The soapstone items in our shops are supplied by a business set up by a Kenyan woman who is keen to provide employment for crafts-people in the Kisi area of Kenya and to improve the quality of life there.
Her enterprise has already established a large primary school which was built using profits from her business as well as donations from the carvers. By providing a marketplace for their goods, Evolution has helped bring much needed money into the area & provided an outlet for their carving skills.

We have visited the areas where the goods are made and have built a relationship which goes beyond just trade. In order to help cash flow for this business we pay up-front for goods before they are produced and are happy to take a lower margin in order to help maintain viable trade in the locality. Indirectly, through the amount of business we have provided, we have helped the business find new markets, which helps with its long term stability.
